New Resident Evil series gets release date on Netflix

Stream all eight episodes from 14th July 2022.

Netflix has revealed the release date for its upcoming live-action Resident Evil series.

Simply titled Resident Evil, the eight episode series will be available to stream in its entirety from Thursday 14th July.

The show will explore two separate timelines with the first set to follow teenage sisters Jade and Billie Wesker as they move to Racoon City with their father Albert (Lance Reddick).

“The more time they spend there, the more they come to realise that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world,” reads the official plot synopsis.

The second will be set 14 years later in 2036 after the T-Virus has ravaged the planet turning millions into bloodthirsty zombies. A now 30-year-old Jade must fight to survive in this new reality whilst attempting to come to terms with the actions of her father and what happened to Billie.

Alongside Reddick, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez round out the rest of the main cast.

All eight episodes were written by Andrew Dabb, who is known for his work on the long-running TV series Supernatural.

This will be the second Resident Evil project for the streamer following the release of the animated miniseries Infinite Darkness last July.

Resident Evil began life as a Playstation game in 1996 and has since gone on to become a major global franchise. This includes six feature films starring Milla Jovovich and a reboot from earlier this year.
