Rick and Morty spinoff web series announced
The Vindicators will chronicle the adventures of Supernova, Vance Maximus, Alan Rails, Crocubot and Noob Noob.
A spinoff to the hugely popular adult animated series Rick and Morty is in development, Adult Swim has announced.
Titled The Vindicators, it will follow the intergalactic crime fighting team of the same name who appeared in the fourth episode of season three which premiered in 2017.
“Answer the Vindibeacon and join your old pals Supernova, Vance Maxiumus, Alan Rails, Crocubot, and Noob Noob as they fight crime, avert genocides, and yuk it up without Rick and Morty,” its official description reads.
The new show will take the form of a mini web series which will be eight to ten episodes long. A release date has yet to be set but it will be available to stream across various digital platforms.
It’s not yet clear whether The Vindicators will take place before the events of the above episode or at another point in the Rick and Morty multiverse.
Rick and Morty co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland will serve as executive producers alongside Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener.
“We are thrilled to work in the Rick and Morty universe again, and these shorts are an incredible opportunity to explore what happens in the aftermath of the Vindicators saving (or destroying) worlds,” said the latter two in a statement.
“We’re so excited to show how this team of superheroes is plenty dysfunctional whether Rick’s around to have half of them murdered or not.”
You can stream all four seasons of Rick and Morty on Netflix now.
