Pretty Little Liars reboot in the works
The announcement comes just three years after the original series ended.
Riverdale creator Robert Aguirre-Sacasa has announced that he’s to reboot mystery teen drama Pretty Little Liars.
The show will feature a brand-new set of characters and explore a completely different plot, although it’s not yet known what this will be.
Sasca is set to write the series but further details on casting or directors are not available.
Original creator I. Marlene King also hasn’t confirmed whether or not she’ll be involved.
No TV network or streaming platform is currently involved but the show is reportedly being developed with HBO Max in mind.
Adapted from Sara Shepard’s series of novels, Pretty Little Liars follows a group of popular high-schoolers who begin receiving mysterious text messages threatening to expose their darkest secrets after Alison (Sasha Pieterse) disappears.
It ran for seven seasons between 2010 and 2016 starring Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Janel Parrish and Tyler Blackburn.
Two spinoff series have also aired, Ravenswood in 2013 and The Perfectionists in 2019, but both were cancelled after their first season.
You can stream all four seasons of Sasca’s other hit series Riverdale on Netflix now.
