Santa Clarita Diet cancelled by Netflix

The zom-rom-com is no more.

Santa Clarita Diet has been cancelled by Netflix after three seasons.

An official reason for the decision has yet to be given, but it’s been suggested that rising production costs could’ve played a factor.

Described as a zom rom com, Santa Clarita Diet stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant as a normal suburban couple whose lives are thrown into disarray when she mysteriously becomes a zombie.

News of its cancellation has come as a shock to many fans considering the show’s popularity with critics. It’s third and final season currently sits at 100% on review site Rotten Tomatoes.

Many have taken to Twitter to express their outrage with the hashtag #SaveSantaClaritaDiet gaining momentum.

A petition to save the shows has also been started on Change.org with almost 3,000 signatures having been collected.

"Netflix took a chance on this odd show and for that we will always be grateful. They were supportive, ever positive, and appreciative of our work.” said creator Victor Fresco and executive producer Tracy Katsky in a joint statement.

You can stream all three seasons of Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix now.
