Sean Bean cast in Snowpiercer season 2
His role is being kept tightly under wraps.
Sean Bean is to join the cast of Snowpiercer for season 2.
Little is known about his role other than the fact he’ll be joining Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs as a series regular.
The Snowpiercer TV series is an adaptation of Bong Joon-ho’s acclaimed 2013 dystopian action film of the same name starring Chris Evans, Ed Harris and Tilda Swinton.
After an attempt to counteract global warming inadvertently causes an ice age, the remnants of humanity are placed on a huge, constantly moving train.
It’ll reboot the film’s continuity exploring the same themes of class struggle and social injustice whilst also unravelling a brand-new mystery.
“It's pretty similar. It's just going to be a bit darker and grittier," said actor Benjamin Charles Watson in an interview with Digital Spy. "You can tell it's such a different TV show, but compared to the movie, it's going to be pretty darn similar."
"The movie is violent, a little bit for television. It's TNT, so they can't make it that violent. But it's going to be a whirlwind. A lot of people are going to really enjoy it."
Fans were treated to their first glimpse of the show back in July when the trailer debuted at San Diego Comic Con.
Orphan Black co-creator Graeme Manson will serve as showrunner with Doctor Strange’s Scott Derrickson and James Hawes having directed the pilot.
UK viewers will be able to stream Snowpiercer on Netflix in the latter half of 2020.
