Sky to show Isle of Wight Festival in Ultra HD

Sky Arts will have exclusive rights to the festival coverage.

Sky has announced that it will offer the Isle of Wight Festival in Ultra HD for Sky Q owners.

The summer festival season will kick off on Sky Arts, with Sky being the first to broadcast a major music festival in Ultra HD.

The Isle of Wight Festival is one of the first major UK festivals and starts the summer-long season of big events.

2017's festival sees major acts like David Guetta, Rod Stewart, Run DMC and Arcade Fire all performing, with Sky Arts viewers able to catch all the action.

The coverage starts on Friday 9th of June, with four hours of live coverage being broadcast every night of the festival.

The coverage is set to be presented by Edith Bowman, Maya Jama and Kaiser Chiefs leader singer Ricky Wilson.

Acts hitting the Main Stage and Big Top include Bastille, The Kooks, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Razorlight and Clean Bandit.

Director of Sky Arts, Phil Edgar-Jones, said that Sky was excited to bring the festival to viewers in Ultra HD.

“The Isle of Wight festival truly marks the start of the UK's festival season, and by capturing all the excitement on and off stage in Ultra HD, Sky Arts and Sky Q are completely changing the viewing experience for music fans watching the festival from the comfort of their own homes forever.

“This will be the first time any major UK music festival has been broadcast in Ultra HD and I am excited for festival fans who will now be able to get even closer to the music they love without having to be at the event.”

Sky Q 2TB box owners will be able to tune in in Ultra HD, provided they have a 4K compatible television.

Existing Sky customers can call direct and upgrade to Sky Q using the Sky upgrade phone number.
