South Park renewed for three more series
It's back on down to South Park.
Comedy Central has renewed adult animated series South Park for three more seasons.
Series 24, 25 and 26 will all contain 10 episodes each with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone continuing to write and direct every one.
This will take the show’s total episode count all the way up to an impressive 327, making it the channel’s longest-running series.
It still trails four seasons behind The Simpsons in terms of being the longest-running animated series of all time however.
“Apparently, our efforts to get our own show cancelled have fallen short,” said Parker and Stone. “Luckily, we love Comedy Central and Kent and our staff so we are looking forward to new cancellation opportunities in the next few years.”
Season 23 of the cult comedy will arrive in the US on September 25th but a UK premiere date is not yet known.
It was also recently announced that season 1, seasons 18 to 21 and special collection of critically-acclaimed and fan favourite episodes will hit Netflix UK on 27th September.
“If humanity is still intact in 1000 years, historians will see the most transcendent artists of our era as The Beatles, Muhammed Ali, and Matt and Trey," said Kent Alterman, president of Comedy Central, Paramount Network and TV Land.
"We’ll do as many seasons as they would like."
Their 1997 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut is also available to stream on Netflix now.
