Space X series in the works at HBO
The series will chronicle the events leading up to its first rocket launch in 2008.
HBO is developing a new scripted series about Elon Musk’s Space X company.
Titled Space X, it will explore the building and launch of its first rocket which was completed by the billionaire inventor and a team of handpicked engineers on a remote island in the Pacific.
The series will consist of six episodes and be based on journalist Ashlee Vance’s bestselling biography Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future.
Doug Jung, whose previous credits include 2016’s Star Trek Beyond and David Fincher’s acclaimed Netflix series Mindhunter, will write the series.
Channing Tatum will serve as one of the executive producers through his company Free Association along with Vance, Reid Carolin, the former president of HBO films Len Amato and Peter Kiernan.
As well as being the CEO of Space X, Musk is known for his work with the innovative electric car company Tesla. Forbes magazine estimates that he is worth a staggering $92.9 billion.
It was also revealed back in July that Musk and Space X will be involved in Tom Cruise and Doug Liman’s new film project which will be the first to be shot in space.
