Supernatural star joins The Boys season 3

Jensen Ackles will play the world's very first superhero Soldier Boy.

Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles has joined the cast of Amazon’s dark superhero satire The Boys for its upcoming third season.

Its showrunner Eric Kripke has confirmed that Ackles will play Soldier Boy, a parody of Captain America who fought the Nazis in WW2.

"Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother,” he said in a statement.

“As Soldier Boy, the very first Superhero, he’ll bring so much humour, pathos, and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of Supernatural to The Boys."

Ackles also posted an announcement video to his Instagram which shows him flipping through volume 9 of The Boys original comic as Elvis Presley’s Soldier Boy plays.

I keep wondering what I’ll do....when @cw_supernatural finally ends this year. Then it hit me. *volume ⬆️

This third season was announced by the show’s executive producers Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg at the end of its Comic-Con@Home panel.

Kripke said he’d like to begin shooting it in early 2021 but that’s obviously dependent on the current COVID-19 situation.

The first three episodes of The Boys season 2 will be available to stream on 4th September 2020. The remaining five will follow weekly on Fridays.

Stream the entire first season of The Boys on Amazon Prime now.
