The Big Bang Theory star to develop new comedy series
The Squad will centre on a group of friends in the world of eSports.
The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki is working on a new half-hour comedy series.
Titled The Squad, it’ll be set in the similarly geek-centric world of eSports an industry which has exploded in popularity over the last few years.
The show will follow “a new group of friends (and sometimes enemies) who find companionship and common ground in their mutual love of competitive eSports.”
Galecki isn’t set to star in the series but will instead serve as an executive producer. As to be expected from a project in such early stages, a full cast or director has yet to be found.
Anthony Del Broccolo, who joined the hugely popular The Big Bang Theory’s writing team in season five, will author the script.
The series has been commissioned by US network NBC but it’s not currently clear where it’ll be broadcast in the UK.
Although it consistently received mixed reviews from critics, The Big Bang Theory was a hit with audiences running for 12 seasons and scoring consistently high ratings.
