The Haunting of Hill House will return to Netflix for second series
The Haunting of Bly Manor slated for 2020 release.
As Netflix confirmed that filming for the second instalment of The Haunting TV anthology would commence in September of this year, the online streaming conglomerate has been selectively teasing information for the upcoming series.
The second season was first announced via director Mike Flanagan’s Twitter feed in February, but the official casting of Victoria Pedretti, who played Nellie Crain in The Haunting of Hill House, has reinvigorated publicity for the critically acclaimed show.
The Haunting of Bly Manor is based on gothic horror novella The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, which was published in 1898. The story is presented as a first-person narrative of a governess caring for two children residing in a remote country house.
The announcement of Bly House confirmed that The Haunting would continue as an anthology, but the prospect of familiar cast members returning remains to be seen.
Aside from Pedretti’s casting in the lead role, cast members from Hill House have remained tight-lipped about their involvement in the new series. Carla Gugino confirmed she has been in talks with Flanagan, while Oliver Jackson-Cohen has expressed enthusiasm for Bly Manor but has neither confirmed nor denied his involvement.
