The Outsider star discusses potential season 2
Ben Mendelsohn has said he currently doesn't know if the show will return.

One of the stars of HBO’s acclaimed supernatural crime-drama The Outsider has opened up about the possibility of a second season.
When asked about its return by Entertainment Weekly, Ben Mendelsohn said:
“I've been told some way, somewhere, someone is writing, and somewhere that person whose writing is saying, "Go away until I'm finished." So no one knows."
“No one knows whether there'll be another, who'll be in it, what it will be about, any of those questions. I'll put a bet that they make another, but as to who is in or out or what that's about or anything else, I couldn't tell you. That's the God's honest truth.”
Based on Stephen King’s 2018 novel of the same name, The Outsider follows Detective Anderson (Mendelsohn) and eccentric investigator Holly Gibney (Cynthia Ervo) as they unravel the mystery surronding the brutal murder of an 11-year-old boy.
This first season of The Outsider concluded on Monday 9th March with an intense finale which brought the main storyline to a satisfying conclusion and used a mid-credits scene to set up the possibility for another.
Something else which could lead to a second season is the show’s great viewing figures. A million more people tune into the finale than the pilot in the US indicating strong word of mouth reviews.
The series as a whole averaged 9 million viewers across all platforms which is the best performance for a new HBO drama series since the first season of Westworld in 2016.
The first season of The Outsider is available to stream in its entirety on NOW TV.
