The Terror could return for season 2
A return for The Terror could be on the cards.
AMC's The Terror could be renewed for a second season, the creators have said.
Speaking in an interview with TV Guide, co-creator Soo Hugh claimed that the plan was in place to have multiple seasons of the show.
"When AMC greenlit the show now almost three years ago, they greenlit it as an anthology show. Meaning Season 1 would be the story of the Franklin Expedition, and subsequent seasons would take on a new narrative that carried the DNA that we established in Season 2."
The Terror is based on a novel by Dan Simmons and revolves around the crew of the HMS Terror who are haunted by an entity after becoming stranded in the icy wasteland of far northern Canada.
The series has been widely acclaimed by audiences thanks to its performances and atmosphere, with Jared Harris impressing in the starring role.
Due to the series being based on a novel, the story doesn't really lend itself to multiple seasons, suggesting that a second season would go down the anthology route.
Soo Hugh did add that if a new season was to be commissioned, she and her co-showrunner would not return, due to the amount of time they spent getting the first season off the ground.
The series has been a passion project for the creators, who are now hoping that season 2 will “carry on the DNA” of The Terror.
You can watch The Terror right now exclusively on AMC via BT TV.
