The Umbrella Academy renewed for season 3

It's not yet know when this new outing will arrive on Netflix.

Superhero series The Umbrella Academy will return for a third season, Netflix has confirmed. 

According to Variety, production is set to begin in February 2021 assuming that there’s no more COVID-19 related industry shutdowns.  

It will once again consist of ten hour-long episodes with creator Steve Blackman, who previously served as a writer on Fargo and the ultra-trippy Legion, to return as showrunner. 

The Umbrella Academy is an adaptation of My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way's best selling comic book series of the same name which follows six adopted superpowered siblings. 

Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher all star. 

The second season, which premiered worldwide in July 2020, saw the siblings travelling back in time in order to stop the impending apocalypse. 

The Umbrella Academy has proved a major hit for Netflix earning acclaim from fans and critics alike. Its first season was watched by 45 million households in its first month of release. 

Both seasons of the Umbrella Academy are available to stream on Netflix now.
