Titans confirms two villains for season 3

Led by Nightwing (Brenton Thwaites), the superhero team will battle Scarecrow and the Red Hood.

DC superhero series Titans has confirmed its villains for season 3.

During the Hall of Heroes panel at last weekend’s virtual DC FanDome event, it was revealed that the young superhero team will be facing off against two well-known members of Batman’s rogue gallery, Scarecrow and the Red Hood.

The former, who’s real name is Jonathan Crane, will first be an inmate of the notorious Arkham Asylum who later becomes a criminal profiler for the Gotham police.

In the comics, Dr Crane is a unhinged scientist who invents a substance known as Fear-Gas which makes victims experience their greatest terrors.

Batman’s former sidekick Robin (Curran Walters) will shed this identity to become the Red Hood as he takes revenge on his former teammates after the events of season 2.

Later on in the panel, which was hosted by executive Greg Walker and the cast, it was also announced that the character of Barbara Gordon will be introduced.

No longer Batgirl, this version of Barbra Gordon is the Commissioner of the Gotham City Police force - a role which is normally occupied by her father Jim in the DC Universe.

The roles of Scarecrow and Barbara Gordon have yet to be cast.

"We've got the second (generation) coming up," said Walker. "There was originally Batman and Jim Gordon, and now we have Nightwing and Barbara Gordon trying to kind of deal with the mistakes of their parents and it turns out to be a lot more difficult than anybody thought."

Titans stars Brenton Thwaites as Nightwing, Anna Diop as the alien Starfire, Teagan Croft as demonic Raven, Ryan Potter as shapeshifter Gar Logan and Joshua Orpin as Superboy.

You can stream the first two seasons of Titans on Netflix now.
