Tom Hardy talks Taboo return

The Venom actor will return to the role next year.

Tom Hardy has said that he’s looking forward to returning to Taboo.

The actor, who is best known for his roles in Mad Max: Fury Road, Dark Knight Rises and the recent Venom, talked in a statement about the return of the BBC series.

Hardy plays James Delaney, the son of a shipping magnate who returns to London to rebuild his father’s empire and clashes with the government and his competitors in the process.

The series was an instant hit when it first aired in 2017 and is set to return for a second outing in 2019.

Hardy, who is also a producer on the show, said he was excited to come back to the role.

"We are grateful and excited to continue our relationship with the BBC and FX in contributing towards British drama. Fantastic news."

Taboo is a co-production between the BBC and US network FX, with Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight acting as the showrunner.

Director Ridley Scott is also involved in the production, saying that the second series would continue the dark themes of the previous.

"We're thrilled people want to know what happens next and that the BBC and FX are up for more adventures with the devil Delaney and the league of the damned.

"Along with our international distributors, Sonar Entertainment, the BBC and FX have been great partners, supporting Taboo at every stage so it could be the dark, dirty brute of a drama that it is."

Stephen Knight has said that Taboo has been planned to run for 3 series, meaning the upcoming series will be the middle chapter of the story.

"I can feel the three acts. The first was 'the escape', the second will be 'the journey', and the third will be 'the arrival', and that'll be it.”
