Tom Holland to star in Apple TV+'s The Crowded Room
The series will take a look at real-life stories of people who live with different mental illnesses.
Tom Holland is set to star in Apple TV+’s upcoming anthology series The Crowded Room.
According to its official description, the show will explore “the true and inspirational stories of those who have struggled, and learned to successfully live with, mental illness.”
The Spiderman actor will play Billy Milligan who in the late 1970s became the first person to be acquitted of a crime due to Dissociative Identity Disorder.
It will be based on Daniel Milligan’s bestselling non-fiction novel The Minds of Billy Milligan.
All ten episodes will be written by Academy-Award winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, whose previous credits include A Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man.
This will be Holland’s first major TV role since the 2015 BBC miniseries Wolf Hall and his second Apple TV+ project after gritty crime-drama Cherry.
Directed by Avengers: Endgame’s The Russo brothers, it follows a PTSD-ridden former solider who start robbing banks in order to fund his heroin addiction.
A release for The Crowded Room is not yet known.
Cherry is available to stream on Apple TV+ now.
