Trailer for Lovecraft Country surfaces

Get ready to head to Lovecraft Country this August.

The first trailer for upcoming HBO series Lovecraft Country has been released.

The series will be an adaptation of the dark fantasy novel by Matt Ruff, which follows science-fiction fan Atticus Turner and his family as he experiences racism through the lens of H.P. Lovecraft’s cosmic horror stories.

Lovecraft Country has been in the works since 2017 and is planned to begin airing in August of this year.

J.J. Abrams, known for directing both Star Trek and Star Wars films and creating Lost and Jordan Peele, of Get Out and Us fame, are both involved as executive producers.

Misha Green has been named as the series showrunner. Green is the creator of historical drama Underground and also has Heroes and Sons of Anarchy credits to her name.

Johnathon Majors, who starred in The Last Black Man in San Francisco, has been cast in the lead role as Atticus Turner, with further cast to be announced.

The series will air on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV Entertainment in the UK, assuming it doesn’t get delayed between now and August.
