What We Do in the Shadows renewed for season 2
New episodes will air in 2020.
Vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows has been renewed for a second series.
Adapted from Taika Waititi and Jermaine Clement’s acclaimed 2014 film of the same name, it follows a group of undead roommates who’ve lived together for hundreds of years.
The action was transported from the original setting of New Zealand’s capital Wellington to Staten Island, New York for TV.
The upcoming second series is currently slated to premiere in 2020 but an episode count hasn’t been confirmed. All of the main cast, Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou and Mark Proksch, are expected to return.
“Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi and Paul Simms have more than delivered on the high expectations of Shadows fans by adapting the cult classic for television and building a passionate base of new and returning fans,” said Nick Grad, president of original programming at FX.
What We Do in the Shadows has received excellent reviews across the board in the US with critics praising its absurd humour, charm and fresh take on the vampire genre.
BBC Two have picked up the series for UK distribution and it’s set to debut here on 19th May.
