Paramount Plus is growing in popularity in the UK as a streaming provider, offering many original shows, hit movies and a range of genres for all.

What is Paramount Plus?

Paramount Plus is an American streaming service that combines the libraries of CBS Media Ventures, CBS Studios, Paramount Media Networks, and Paramount Pictures.

It was launched in 2014 as CBS All Access and was only available in North America, but after expanding to bring in content from channels such as Comedy Central and MTV, it was rebranded to become Paramount Plus and subsequently grew into Latin America and Europe.

What’s on Paramount Plus?

It features many original shows and films, all American-based hence why it's not been too big in the UK yet.

Despite this, many of the shows have garnered some fans and popularity in Britain. Before Paramount Plus, a number of the shows could be watched in the UK on Sky Atlantic, exposing UK viewers to the shows from across the pond.

Popular channels across multiple genres are included on the service, including Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, CBS, BET, and MTV.

Is Paramount Plus free with Sky?

Sky customers who have a Sky Cinema package will receive Paramount Plus free to them at no extra cost.

The service was introduced to the UK on 22nd July 2022 and was immediately included with Sky Cinema deals and available to existing customers.

For Sky Q, Sky Glass or Sky Stream customers, Paramount Plus will be available on their TV as well as other devices, while Sky+ customers can watch shows and film from the service on their Sky box.

How much is Sky Cinema?

There are various Sky Cinema deals available for new and existing customers.

For new customers, you will need to start with either a Sky Stream or Sky Glass Entertainment package deal and then add Sky Cinema with it.

There are numerous Sky deals that will package those together for you, along with almost anything else you may need, including broadband or Sky Sports.

Sky Entertainment + Netflix & Cinema deals start at £27 per month for an 18-month contract (Offer price, correct as of 06/12/23. Regular price £48 p/m. Price may change during contract).

For existing customers, Sky Cinema can be included as an add-on to your existing Sky Entertainment + Netflix deal, with Sky Cinema costing either £11 a month on an 18-month contract or £13 a month on a rolling contract (prices may change during contract).

How much does Paramount Plus cost on its own?

Paramount Plus on its own will cost you £6.99 a month, which is £1 a month cheaper than Disney+ and £3 a month cheaper than Netflix’s Standard service.

Is Paramount Plus worth it?

If you are already a Sky customer with Sky Cinema, then Paramount Plus is definitely worth it considering it's free to you.

But even as a standalone subscription, Paramount Plus offers a stellar amount of shows and movies that you have likely not seen before, and with something for everyone at a very reasonable price, it is one of the best streaming services available now.
