How to watch live premier league football on TV

Football brings emotion out in people. To those of us that follow it, it inspires the type of devotion usually reserved for intense relationships. The World Cup in Brazil was a beautiful, fleeting flirtation with someone who could never hang around.  But now it's time for commitment and love. The Premier League is back!

Last season was the most thrilling season yet. A tight title race, scattergun sackings, savage thrashings and the traditional relegation dogfight all made for a smorgasbord of emotions with a delightful side dish of schadenfreude. It had everything and in a few weeks it's coming back.

While the league may be a 100 per cent less ‘bitey' this year, it could be just as fun to watch. Will the villainous Jose twirl his moustache and take the crown or will Brendan Rodgers' tricky reds adjust to life without Luis and get their hands on number 19? Whoever wins or loses it's sure to be a stormy season. So how do you get to watch all the action?

If you are intent on watching all the live TV football that you can, you'll need to have access to BT Sport and Sky Sports. These channels will let you watch all the big games right from the start. BT Sport is free for the first year if you take BT's broadband service and only £3 per month after that. This will give you access to 38 exclusively live Barclays Premier League games, which now includes 18 top match picks that are no longer available on Sky Sports.

If you take the BT deal but you still need to see all the games, then you'll also need to subscribe to Sky Sports. You can add Sky Sports 1 & Sky Sports 2 to your package for an extra £21 per month. This won't offer access to the new dedicated European football channel Sky Sports 5, but you should be able to see all the Premier League matches that are on Sky Sports 1 and 2.

If you would prefer to get Sky, it's still very easy to see all the games. If you are a new customer you can get a Sky Sports TV bundle and Sky Broadband Unlimited for £46 per month. Bear in mind that this is a 12-month contract for new customers so you might want to think a bit before you lock yourself into a contract.

If you are an existing Sky customer, you need to sign up for BT Sport through your Sky package. This costs an extra £12 per month, but the process is fairly seamless.  You'll also need a Sky Sports subscription, which can easily be added to your existing package.

If watching loads of games doesn't appeal to you and you just want to see the big matches, you can go for something like the NOW TV Day Pass. For £9.99 you get access to every Sky Sports channel for 24 hours. Perfect for a Super Sunday!
