Eternals writers discuss potential Disney+ prequel series

Despite the film earning mixed reviews from critics, Marvel is seemingly open to bringing back these characters.

The writers of Marvel’s latest superhero blockbuster Eternals have said that they’d like to develop a Disney+ prequel series

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Kaz and Ryan Firpo revealed that they already had several ideas for what such a show could explore given the huge amount of comic book material they’ve got to work with.

“Go back and do a Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani) episode in 1890s Mumbai where he is juggling his life as a movie star, dealing with Gandhi’s peaceful dissolution of the British empire in India,” said Kaz.

“And there’s an episode with Thena (Angelina Jolie) where she’s in Greece. I would love to make that show. There are a lot of opportunities.”

“If the audiences allow us, there’s going to be a story to tell with Dane Whitman (Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington).”

“There’s going to be a story to tell in the Cosmos with the Eternals confronting Arishem (voiced by David Kaye) and all the Celestials who are these incredible metaphors for creation. I think there’s a lot of stories in the Eternals universe.”

Nothing yet has been confirmed, but the success of other Marvel Disney+ series like WandaVision has shown it’s a very effective way to explore other characters in the ever-expanding MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

Directed by Academy-Award winner Chloe Zhao, Eternals follows several members of this superpowered, immortal alien race who are sent to protect earth from the Deviants.

Disney CEO Bob Chapek has said subscribers will be able to stream Eternals on Disney+ after its theatrical run ends, so it could become available to stream before the end of the year.
